Direct run: your shipment, one van, straight through

On a direct run your shipment is the only one in the van. We collect it where it is, at the agreed time, and drive straight to the delivery address. Price known upfront, tracked live on the way.

What is a direct run?

A direct run (Dutch: directrit, German: Direktfahrt) is dedicated transport: one shipment, one vehicle, one route. No sorting hub, no waiting for a truck to fill up, no other address on the way. The driver who loads at your door is the driver who rings the recipient's bell.

That is different from parcel post or groupage. There, your shipment shares space and route with other consignments, and the carrier's schedule decides when it arrives. On a direct run you set the time, and the arrival time is simple arithmetic: driving time plus the agreed pickup.

CuraTrans runs direct deliveries from 's-Heerenberg, on the Dutch-German border, to destinations across Europe. For companies that need something today, for shipments that do not fit a parcel stream, and for anything too valuable or too fragile to be transhipped.

What you get is certainty: a fixed price before the run is scheduled, a driver you can reach, and from the moment of pickup a tracking link that shows where your shipment is.

What does a direct run cost?

The price of a direct run is the loaded distance times the kilometre rate, with a minimum price per run. Loaded distance is the route from the loading address to the delivery address according to our route calculation. The van's return journey is not added to your order as extra kilometres.

That makes a direct run more expensive than a parcel by post, and cheaper than sending your own employee out for a day. A run with 29 kilos costs the same as a run with 400 kilos: you pay for the van and the route, not the weight.

Does my shipment fit a direct run?

  • Up to 500 kg and at most 1 euro pallet, in an enclosed cargo space.
  • Boxes, cases, crates, machine parts, equipment, documents, art and antiques.
  • Not: chilled or frozen goods, dangerous goods (ADR), more than 1 pallet or heavier than 500 kg.
  • Not sure? Send the dimensions and weight and we will tell you honestly.

Frequently asked questions

Here you will find answers to the questions customers ask us most often.

What is the difference between a direct run and a regular courier service?

With a regular courier or parcel service your shipment shares the vehicle and route with other consignments and is often transhipped one or more times. On a direct run your shipment stays in the same van from loading to unloading and the driver goes straight there.

How quickly can a direct run leave?

For urgent jobs we collect within 1 hour, with guarantee and a surcharge you hear upfront. For a normal request we aim to collect the same day, without guarantee. We are reachable 7 days a week.

Can I track the run?

Yes. As soon as the driver has loaded your shipment, you automatically receive an email with a tracking link. It shows roughly where the van is. The link stops by itself after delivery.

Why is a direct run more expensive than groupage?

Because the van drives for your shipment alone. You pay for the route and the driver's time, not for a slot in a full truck. In return you set the time and your shipment is never transhipped.

Do you also drive internationally?

Yes, direct runs to 22 European countries. For destinations outside the EU, such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway, we tell you upfront which customs documents are needed and what falls outside the rate.
