Art and antiques transport: one piece, one van, across Europe

A painting, an antique cabinet, a sculpture or a complete auction purchase: it travels as the only shipment in an enclosed van, with one driver from pickup to delivery. Direct, insured and priced upfront.

Why art does not belong in a parcel stream

Art and antiques do not tolerate a sorting belt, a stack of other boxes or being transhipped three times. What they need is a calm ride in an enclosed cargo space, one pair of hands that knows what it is carrying, and an arrival time you can agree with the recipient.

CuraTrans moves art and antiques as a direct run: your piece is the only shipment in the van. We collect from the gallery, the auction house, the restorer or a private home, and drive straight to the destination, in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria or the United Kingdom.

Packing is done by you, the seller or a professional packer; we transport what is handed to us packed and secure it in the van. For purchases at an auction or from a dealer abroad we arrange the collection appointment with the seller and, for destinations outside the EU, the customs documents upfront.

What you get is clarity: a fixed price before the run is scheduled, a driver who calls before arriving, and a tracking link so you and the recipient know when the piece arrives.

Only your piece in the van

No other shipments, no transhipment on the way. In the same hands from loading to unloading.

Insured transport

Your shipment is insured during the run. For high-value pieces we agree the cover with you upfront.

Across Europe

Auction in Vienna, gallery in Paris, seller in London: one run, one price, customs arranged upfront.

Appointment on time

Pickup and delivery at the hour you and the recipient agree. The driver calls before arriving.

How an art transport works

  1. 1

    Request

Tell us what it is, the dimensions and weight, and where it is and where it needs to go. A photo helps.

  2. 2

    Price and planning

You receive the transport price based on the loaded distance. We agree the pickup time with the seller or gallery.

  3. 3

    Collect, drive, deliver

The driver secures the piece in the van, drives straight through and delivers to the person you name.

What does art transport cost?

The price is the loaded distance times the kilometre rate, with a minimum price per run. For the United Kingdom a separate rate applies that includes the standard crossing. The van's return leg is not charged.

Costs outside normal transport, such as customs handling, import duties, a specialist packer or exceptional waiting time, are listed separately in the quote when known upfront. So you know exactly what you pay and what for.

What fits in the van?

  • Cargo space 160 cm long, 115 cm wide, 100 cm high, enclosed and dry. Up to 500 kg.
  • Paintings up to roughly 150 × 100 cm packed, sculptures, smaller furniture, clocks, ceramics, books and archives, complete auction lots.
  • Not: climate-controlled transport, pieces larger than the cargo space, or two-man handling for heavy lifting.
  • Unsure about the size? Send the packed dimensions and you will know within the hour.

Frequently asked questions

Here you will find answers to the questions customers ask us most often.

Is my artwork insured during transport?

Yes, your shipment is insured during the run. For high-value pieces we agree the cover with you upfront so there is no misunderstanding about what is covered.

Do you also pack the piece?

We transport what is handed to us packed and secure it in the van with blankets and straps. Professional packing is done by the seller, the auction house or a packer; we can recommend one on request.

Can you collect an auction purchase abroad?

Yes. Give us the lot number, the auction house's collection details and the payment confirmation. We make the collection appointment and drive the piece straight to you.

What about customs to or from the United Kingdom?

Art and antiques to or from the UK need an export and import declaration. We tell you upfront which documents you provide and which costs fall outside the rate. The crossing itself is included in the UK rate.

Is the van climate-controlled?

No. Our van has an enclosed, dry cargo space without climate control. For works that require strict temperature or humidity values we are not the right partner, and we say so honestly.
